Remember, this was a game hailed for its visuals when it was released – and is still considered by some to be the best game in the series. It’s fantastic to play again – and the HD makeover is welcome, breathing new life into an aging engine. The moves are many and varied and the controls as simple as they were back then, with the usual kicks, punches and throws combining well with the myriad of combos. Everything looks very familiar there’s a huge roster of characters – from Paul Phoenix, Nina Williams, and Michelle Chang to Gun Jack, Yoshimitsu, and Kuma the (not-so-likable) bear.Įverything is familiar and reassuring and you will soon achieve some cool combos

It’s not a bad movie at all but to be honest it’s probably the gaming aspect that will interest most of you who buy Tekken Hybrid, and you won’t be disappointed!įor nostalgic reasons, we first tried our hand at the Tekken Tag Tournament HD and were taken back to those happy days of its debut in 2000 on the PlayStation 2. It’s your typical spy, kidnapping, and conflict story – and it sounds lovely. It is directed by Youichi Mouri, who was responsible for the opening films of Tekken 5 and Tekken 6: Bloodline Rebellion. If you have the right hardware, you can also watch the feature in 3D. The movie – Tekken Blood Vengeance 3D – produced by Digital Frontier, the guys behind Resident Evil: Degeneration, Death Note, and Appleseed – is a nice distraction from whatever you’re going to push the buttons on. Insert the disc and you have the choice of watching the Blu-ray movie, a computer animated game that looks fantastic, or hitting a few pixels in one of the games. For an affordable price, this trio of Tekken treats is a nice addition to any collection. I liked the look, preferred the characters and controls… so I wanted it to live up to the name. Tekken Tag Tournament is back and getting a facelift in HDĪs a gamer, I’ve always broadcast on the Tekken side as opposed to those aspiring Street Fighter, Mortal Kombat, and Virtua Fighter.
